I spent the day at the barn taking reference photos of horses and nature to use as my own personal references for drawing and painting. As I mentioned in my latest YouTube video, I am seeing so much AI online that I think we sometimes forget what real things look like! I love imperfection because it is real and a reflection of authenticity – it tells a story and I want to capture that in my art.
The older I get the more time I want to spend wrapped up in art and nature. There is nothing more comforting than listening to the breeze as it moves through the trees or hearing birds singing their songs, watching bees go about their day.

Being around animals, especially horses away from the reality of the daily grind is a perfect way to gain clarity and recognize that it is the simple things that bring joy – watching nature do it’s thing without a worry. Just living in the moment.
Recharging your battery or filling your cup is just as important as meeting that work deadline looming over your shoulder.

I draw horses every now and then and they are such a challenge to sketch! They have so many different shapes. If you are interested in learning how to draw a horse below are a couple of videos that might help.
