I have begun the process of creating a painting series with a focus on portraits on small canvases. In the past I was always focused on large canvases or large artworks on paper but I decided to go in the opposite direction and I am so glad I did!
I will be doing 5-10 acrylic paintings on 5 x 7 canvas allowing me to explore colors, textures and technique.
I will often work on several paintings at once to allow me to move quickly and stay creative and inspired while also allowing paintings to dry as I move from one to the next.

My color palette is a beautiful rich dark blue, bright pink, green and terracotta. I want to create rich vibrant paintings with lots of texture.

This is the first phase of the paintings, they will change and evolve as I continue to paint them. The first phase is the biggest because it is where the figures and faces are placed and colors are chosen.
The next layer will be more detailed and include some gloss medium.
I can’t wait to see how these evolve! Intuitive painting can be so much fun, for the full video watch below!
